VISIT TO STRAWBERRY FARM

A visit to the strawberry plantation in Verlem. One must visit this beautiful part of nature covered with greenery and luscious red fruits.
When we think of Goa, beaches and nightlife usually come to mind. But tucked away in the lush green hills of Verlem, near the serene forests of Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, lies an unexpected surprise a thriving strawberry farm!
Yes, strawberries in Goa! And not just a few plants  but beautifully maintained strawberry fields cultivated by local farmers.
Strawberry cultivation in Verlem was introduced as part of a government-supported agricultural initiative to promote alternative farming in the region. Local self-help groups, especially women farmers, began cultivating strawberries successfully due to the area's cooler climate.
Today, the farm attracts tourists, nature lovers, and food enthusiasts who are curious to see strawberries growing in Goa’s hills.
The plants are small and are very well managed. I also admired the systematic arrangement of the water supply. The strawberry seeds for the plantation are brought from Mahabaleshwar and there are different varieties of it.

For those of you who have never seen anything like this before do visit it soon. It’s nice to spend some time admiring the fruits of the nature. My day at the strawberry farm was really mesmerising.

I visited the place along with family and we bought 4 boxes of strawberries. Entry fee is 20Rs per person Priced at 80/- a box.
